↰ back to News About APPRThe Association of Forest Owners of Romania, legal and natural persons - A.P.P.R, was founded in 1998 by forest owners and forestry engineers with the aim of initiating the process of returning forests to their rightful owners until full restitution, to respect the forest regime and to sustainably preserve the forest so that future generations can benefit from the forest just as the current generation benefits from the functions of the forest, and past generations benefited from this miracle called the forest. To achieve these goals, it is necessary that the rights of forest owners, in their capacity as owners, be defended and guaranteed, as are those of agricultural land owners and property owners, a fact that naturally happens in all European Union countries. In this regard, the provisions of the Civil Code regarding private property must be respected, especially the provisions of Art.555 paragraph 1.) The functions of the forest regarding carbon sequestration and oxygen production, as well as biodiversity conservation, are not quantified and compensation is not offered to private forest owners. Instead, more and more obligations appear that the forest owner must fulfill. The Association of Forest Owners of Romania - APPR, is the only national association that represents all categories of private owners, is the only representative from this point of view and the only one that is taken into account by the European organizations in the field where we are also members. APPR is also the only national association that received the Statute of Public Utility Association according to GD 379/ 2005. We consider the existence of the SMURF project to be of great importance for raising awareness among forest owners in Europe about the multifunctionality of forests and the rights of owners, as well as for building an intra-European network of forest owners. |
